Newton Upper Falls

Located along the east bank of the Charles River, Newton Upper Falls is one of the thirteen villages in Newton. Bordering Newton Upper Falls are the communities of Needham, Wellesley, West Roxbury, Waban, Newton Highland, and Newton Centre. Unique from nearby residential areas, Newton Upper Falls has a considerable number of homes on the historic register with around 150 residences listed. In addition, one of the roads running through the village, Sullivan Ave, dates back to a seventeenth century highway system that connected Newton to Boston and Cambridge.

Local landmarks of Newton Upper Falls include Hemlock Gorge, which is a part of the Massachusetts state park and Echo Bridge. In terms of education, Horace Mann Elementary School, Jackson-Walnut Park School, F.A. Day Middle School, Day Middle School, Newton North High School, and Trinity Catholic High School all serve the Newton Upper Falls community. One can reach Newton Upper Falls by traveling on the MBTA Green “D” Line, by Interstate 95, and by Routes 9 and 128.
