Oak Hill

Oak Hill

Known since the mid-seventeenth century as Oak Hill, the village is one of thirteen in the city of Newton. Oak Hill was one of the last villages to be developed in Newton and is distinct in that it does not have much of commercial district nor a post office. Bordering Oak Hill is Newton Lower Falls and Needham, as well as a variety of parks and a farm in its southern limits. One area of Oak Hill, the Oak Hill Park, was built specifically after World War II for returning soldiers. Local landmarks of Oak Hill include a few recreational sites such as the Charles River Country Club, Nahanton Park, and the Brookline Golf Course. In terms of education, Memorial Spaulding Elementary School, Charles E. Brown Middle School, Oak Hill Middle School, and Newton South High School serve Oak Hill residents. Oak Hill is also the location of Mount Ida College. One can reach Oak Hill by way of Routes 9 and 128, and Interstate 95.
